WE ARE LOOKING FOR A PROJECT MANAGER!

As KONTRA gets renewed for another mini art fest that will happen on the 29th of November 2019 at Roodkapje Rotterdam, we are looking for new humans to join our team and make this event possible.

WHO IS KONTRA?

KONTRA is a Rotterdam-based grass roots project that aims to create communal individualism and question mainstream culture– combining art and activism to connect humans and challenge societal dogmas.

We began our activities in the end of November 2018 with the mini art fest ”KONTRA” that took place at Roodkapje Rotterdam, for which we connected more than 25 artists (from the visual field to music) and challenged them to break the rules (you can watch the video recap of the event here).

Then in March 2019 we organised the first ever Rotterdam based slut walk, which was a protest attended by more or less 400 people followed by a cultural programme with a diverse panel of artists and even a debate with Rotterdam city officials with the theme of ”‘’Towards the end of sexism: the rise of intersectional feminism in Rotterdam’’. We have continued our work, this time with MoMo, by organizing a tour of the Schiekadeblock building, in order to raise awareness to the impending mortality of the latter. And right after that we joined the Activism Today talks in Groningen to talk about our work, give a workshop on consent, how to make the nigh life safer and how to build communities in this digital age.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR!

Someone who is genuine, calm, assertive but also creative and with a soul that can improvise and sing at the same time. As a project manager you would:

• Contribute to the creation of the event itself- KONTRA mini art fest- (its framework and roots);
• You can speak and write English at a good level;
• Answer e-mails and take care of logistic preparations;
• Meet with the artists, volunteers and other partners in order to make sure the event is going smoothly;
• Oversee the project and connect with its creative direction;
• Have the capability of working within a team and be an open communicator;
• Be available one week before the event itself and one week after (since their will be a build up period and a finissage);
• Contribute to the creation of a safe, ecological, inclusive and bottom up approach when it comes to the creation of events;
• Be able to work with different people, from various backgrounds and paths of life.

 

YOU MY DEAR HUMAN, YOU 

If you are up for this challenge, we need to make sure that:

• You are over 18+;
• Live in Rotterdam (or you are Rotterdam based);
• You have the ability to contribute to KONTRA on average 12-15 hours a week (some periods will be more intense and some more calm but this is the max amount of hours we would be asking from you).

There is some budget available but since we are a grass-roots project, non corporate and non profit, this won’t be the high paying side job you have been dreaming of. As KONTRA is a transparent organisation, we will try our best to pay fairly and in dialogue with you- finding a compromise that both parties feel comfortable in.

Oh and one last note: you don’t need to be in art school to apply for this and have a certain degree of experience. We are looking mainly into human potential, who you are and how you communicate.
